Genesis 1-2 (Semi-final draft)

In the beginning (et)
ELOHAH created the heavens and the Earth...

...then the Earth became formless and empty.

This is the account of the heavens and the Earth when they were renewed:

Darkness was over the surface of the deep and the spirit of ELOAH was hovering over the waters. He called the darkness "night" and said: "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the light from the dark, and let them serve as signs to mark days, seasons and years; and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the Earth." And it was so. He saw that the lights were good.
ELOAH said: "Let there be light." And it was so. He saw that the light was good and he called it "day."
(ELOAH made 2 great lights: the greater light to govern the day and the lesser lights to govern the night. He set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the Earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from dark.)
   There was evening.

There was morning -- the 1st day.
ELOAH said: "Let there be an expanse between the waters; to separate water from water." And it was so. H
e made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it, and called the expanse "sky"; and he saw that it was good.
    There was evening.

There was morning -- the 2nd day.
ELOAH said: "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. H
e called the dry ground "land" and the gathered waters he called "seas"; and he saw that it was good.
(But no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for YEHOVAH ELOAH had not sent rain on the Earth and there was no man to work the ground, but streams came up from the Earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.)
    There was evening.

There was morning -- the 3rd day.
ELOAH said: "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so.
The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. He saw that it was good.
    There was evening.

There was morning -- the 4th day.
ELOAH said: "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." And it was so.
He created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And ELOAH blessed them and said: "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the Earth." He saw that it was good.
    There was evening.

There was morning -- the 5th day.
ELOAH said: "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so.
He made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. He saw that it was good.
    There was evening.

There was morning -- the 6th day.

ELOAH said: "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the Earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." And it was so. YEHOVAH ELOAH formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Now YEHOVAH ELOAH had planted a garden in the east (in Eden) and he made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground -- trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. And in the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
A river watering the garden flowed from Eden and separated into 4 headwaters:
~ The Pishon winds through the entire land of Havilah

(where there is good gold, aromatic resin and onyx)
~ The Gihon winds through the entire land of Cush
~ The Tigris runs along the east side of Asshur
        ~ The Euphrates

So YEHOVAH ELOAH took the man he had formed and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And he commanded the man: "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."
Then YEHOVAH ELOAH brought all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air that he had formed out of the ground to the man to see what he would name them. Whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.
So YEHOVAH ELOAH said: "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

Then YEHOVAH ELOAH caused the man to fall into a deep sleep and took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then YEHOVAH ELOAH made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
The man said: "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man."
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
So ELOAH created man in ELOHIM'S image, in the image of ELOHIM he created him; male and female he created them.
Then he blessed them and said to them: "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground. I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground -- everything that has the breath of life in it -- I give every green plant for food."

    There was evening.

Thus the heavens and the Earth were completed in all their vast array. ELOAH saw all that he had made -- and it was very good.

There was morning -- the 7th day.
By the 7th day, ELOAH had finished the work he had been doing; so on the 7th day he rested from all his work. He blessed the 7th day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of renewing that he had done.
